  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Reaction to vaccine

Just to let you know that finally Smudge has healed. It took 6 long weeks. The fur is growing back in places but she still has bald spots.
Thought it may be helpful to anyone else whose bunny has a reaction to or improper administration of Eravac.

Thanks again for the support.

That's really good news, well done Smudge, and you've done a great job nursing her back to good health xxx

My rabbits had an adverse reaction to eravac aswell (I'd always used filavac but there was a supply issue due to covid-19). None had skin reactions but 5 out of the 6 had a foreleg limp which resolved itself within 48hrs. I'm so glad I was around in the days where this was a common side effect from cylap otherwise I think I'd of freaked out.

My vet seemed to think that the new triple vaccine was not mineral oil based so bunnies should not have the same problem next year.

Hope your bunny continues to heal well.

Thank you. It’s scary isn’t it? I hope your bunnies are ok now too. I definitely won’t be using Eravac again.
