Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

RHD2 Vaccinations

Hi everyone,

Both my rabbits recieved the myx and RHD vaccinations in October last year, and then got the RHD2 vaccination 2 weeks later. My vet is now insisting they are due another RHD2 jab now but not the other 2 until October. I though all jabs only required an annual booster or have I got this wrong? This would mean they would both have the RHD2 jab every 6 months? TIA X

Which RHD2 Vaccine was given, Eravac of Filavac ? If a Vet deems the geographical location of the Rabbits to be 'high risk' then it may be advised that they are given every 6 months. Data Information Sheets for both Filivac and Eravac :

Filivac :

Eravac :

There is now a new Triple vaccine available that covers Myxomatosis, RHD1 and RHD 2. Most Vets should be moving over to using this over the coming months :

Thanks, They had FIlivac, some counties near me are high risk although not technically mine. Since I have been self isolating I have had extremely limited contact with anyone so I would imagine the risk for my rabbits is quite low. Would you recommend having the FIlivac every 6 months or is it ott?

I am not qualified to give you that advice. It is one that only the Vet treating the Rabbit can give based on their professional opinion and knowledge of specific geographical risks.
