Default Now Sprocket is sick 😭😭

Sprocket is ten years old. We lost his partner, Fizzgig in mid march this year. On Friday I noticed he was struggling to breathe and looked to be in pain. He also had fewer, small poops and his eating slowed.

Took him to the vet and they kept him in overnight and gave him oxygen, gut meds and enrocare. They called me yesterday and said he was eating a bit and had pooped a little bit and that they could either keep him another night or send him home. They also advised that they could do more exploratory work, ie xrays, on Monday if he was still not improved.

In the past he has suffered from bloat and sometimes if he's been on wet grass that can set him off. Since the Lockdown I have been working from home and he's been out on the grass more than ever before, but he's been out a lot for the past two months, although only recently has it rained.

But in his past episodes, and he's not had one in a few years, he's usually just bounced back after getting the usual gut meds into him. His behaviour this time is also different, before he never had such heavy breathing and would be entirely off his food until the meds kicked in.

This time he is trying to eat but seems to be in so much pain that he is struggling to breathe which in turn is impacting his ability to eat which also means not a lot is moving through his system. He's not really enthusiastic and only eats if I wave something right under his nose.

The vet (an exotics specialist) is stumped, said his lungs sound clear too, so I thought maybe if we bring him home he might feel more relaxed and the meds would kick in. But he is the same state this morning. He has eaten some carrot and dandelion, and a couple of fenugreek crunchies, he did a wee at 0515 and has had some very tiny poops. He's also left some caeacotrophs. But that's it. I'll be speaking to the vet later and I guess we'll have to decide if he should go back in today or tomorrow..

Thank you, I gave him his morning meds and he raced off and then collapsed in a heap. We are taking him back to the vet to get him back on the oxygen.
