Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My bunny has extremely dry cracked skin right behind her neck. How do I treat this?

I don't have a lot of money, but my bunny is taken extremely good care of! Her cage is cleaned every day, and regularly dismantled for complete cleaning. She's on a good diet and her litter is dumped and box cleaned daily with vinegar and water and rinsed well. How do I take care of this itchy scaly spot? I am new here. This is my first post.

Hello

You really need to try to establish the cause of the dry cracked skin. Has she had any vaccinations recently ? A local reaction to a vaccine or any other injection can cause the skin to become sore. I am afraid it is not possible to advise you as to how to treat the condition without having some idea of the cause. So I would advise you to get your Vet to take a look at the sore area. The sooner it is appropriately treated the better so that it does not get any worse. Good luck x

It sounds like it could be Mites from your description. It really is better to take her to a Vet to get it treated as it won't go away on its own. Stress sometimes brings them on but it might not be Mites. Can you post a photo of her on here and that will give us a better idea.

Itchy, scaly spot behind the neck? Chances are high that this are some kind of mites. Easily treated when confirmed, drops applied twice 3 weeks apart (I got Stronghold from the vet). No matter how clean or how well cared for, that can always happen.

Welcome to the forum and I also agree with the advice above. Your vet will be best place to make an accurate diagnosis and if it is mites, then treatment will be effective and should work quick and your bun will benefit from that.
