Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Nodular Myxi - White blob on eye

Beatrix Potter

Mama Doe
Poor Spudsey :( Her eye looks so sore and she keeps getting some white blob on her eye, we've tried getting it off but it seems to be stuck in the middle of her eye. Has anyone had any experience of this?

Is it a blob of pus or is it actually a white area on her cornea ? She may have either a blocked/infected tear duct (causing the pus/gunk) or a corneal ulcer, especially if she has/had a nodule near the eyelid. I'd get the Vet to take another look at her today if possible xx

Hi Jane

Other half managed to remove it yesterday, he put it under his microscope and it was just sticky gunge. She had an appointment with Simon earlier this evening, seems she has lost part of her eye margin which means her fur is getting into her eye and causing issues. Other half now on evening eye duties as I'm a bit squeamish!

So glad that it was 'just' gunk. Do you hire your OH out for Bunny Care duties if their owners are squeamish ??!! Sending lots more vibes for Spudsey and a glass of his favorite tipple for your OH !

 Despite wearing contact lenses myself I am so squeamish with eyes! I can wipe them in the corner and put eye drops in, but this gungy stuff is really thick and horrible and difficult to remove. We left Spudsey out overnight last night until early this afternoon, so she had a great time :) I can't leave her out all the time due to the cats but they were kept out of the kitchen all night so she could have a good amount of time out.

Bless her  I bet she had great fun xx
