  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice on spaying a 2-3 year old bunny please.

For anyone who had been following this thread, Hazel had her next checkup today, she is doing well. I asked about an xray and the vet did one without putting her under. That meant she could see there is no large masses or anything but there were some small blurs which could just be from Hazel moving a bit and her heart beating fast. The only way to know for sure would be to put her under so we all agreed that wasn't a necessary risk to take. So she will be back in 2 months for another check up. I am hopeful that as it was an aggressive cancer, that if it had spread we would be seeing large signs of it by now. I know that isn't necessarily the case but we are a lot more optimistic than a few months ago! She is such a lovely, loving bunny I am soooooooooooooooooo happy :) And anyone who has also seen my other thread about bonding her with Shadow, we had a bit of a breakthrough with that today too so double good news :)
