Dara has had an 'Iffy' Couple of Days

Jack's-Jane

Wise Old Thumper
Dara has some neurological problems. So far she has only had 2 full seizures, the first about 6 hours after her Nobivac Vaccination. She has the usual REW 'scanning' issues, but she also has 'absences' similar to those Lord H has. Sometimes she will suddenly appear to lose co-ordination of her front legs. This video shows a 'mild' episode that occured this morning.

So far we (me and C) have not been able to ascertain exactly what is going on, but we now have the input of a great Exotics Specialist, so if Dara appears to start to 'suffer' due to her neurological issues (at the moment she is not bothered by them at all, again just like Lord H) C will consult with the Exotics Specialist again. For now spaying is not an option, we may use a hormonal implant should her quality of life be adversely effected by remaining entire. Some of the literature relating to the implants implies it can offer some protection against uterine hyperplasia ( Uterine Cancer) and some says a side effect of using it can be Uterine/Ovarian hyperplasia. Why is NOTHING ever straight forward with Rabbit medicine !

She’s certainly in the best of hands. She doesn’t appear to be bothered at all by it. Sending lots of vibes xx

I am sorry to hear Dara had another seizure.
It can be so frustrating when you see conflicting information on a topic. I always see ads for drugs that caution the drug may cause the problem it is intended to fix. How can scientific data be so different?

Her nose is twitching quite fast. Does she find these moments scary? Hope she will be ok. xx

She is totally oblivious to everything during an 'episode' and as you can see at the end of the video, once the episode is over she just sits up and carries on as normal. Neither Vet (one an Exotics Specialist) wants to start her on anticonvulsants yet. She has been treated for EC. She seems to take everything in her stride, just like Lord H does with his 'episodes'-there but not there, so-to-speak

Lord H having an 'episode'.................

It's as if he has been switched off. But his nose doesn't twitch like Dara's. ;)

Interesting! She's definitely not otherwise affected by it, is she. It's almost as if she's just lost control, and waiting for it to return. Perhaps, for her, that's normal! :)

Ah bless her, hope she's OK. I won't tell Doughnut if your specialist is her Mark, she'll get jealous :).

Aw, poor girlie. But she has you and C in her corner and that makes her a very lucky bunny indeed. xxxxx
