In and out of stasis

How would I investigate a potential problem with her cecum?

I haven't tried forcing anything on her in a couple of days, I offer her the syringe feed and if she wants it then I feed it to her but if she doesn't I just try again an hour or so later. She enjoys her meds and takes them quite happily so I don't think that's stressing her persay, but the fact I'm around might be.
I'm at work tomorrow so I could try leaving her be for everything but the 8am and 8pm meds, see how she does. I could also get Simon to give her the meds since she seems to like him much more than she likes me at the moment

We're due at the vet with her and obi on Wednesday to check on an ear mite situation so I can ask them to look at her tongue then and see whether it's still got the ulcers on it.

I have lost track a bit, but were the tongue Ulcers Dental related or spontaneous ?

308 poos overnight and she was still nibbling and pooing when I did her meds at 5 to 9 so although she's not right I'm still feeling pretty good about her recovery.
I did notice that she had a few quite moist poos and I'm sure she ate a couple of them - they weren't cecals, just very round moist poos in amongst the smaller, drier and more tear drop shaped ones that she's been doing.

I don't know if it's relevant but I posted another thread about my other rabbit Obi and his digestive problems. He has intermittent diarrhea and also does some very moist poos - they're the same shape and size as his others just really moist. They look very similar to the ones lola's produced today - could there be something parasitic or viral at play?

She's pain relief free as of Tuesday but still only eating at night and being pretty picky with what she does eat.
The vet had a look at her mouth on Wednesday and said teeth and tongue look good now and they can only assume the night eating is behavioural.
I've ordered a temporary pen so I can put her back in the room with Obi but she can still have free access to all the foods. I'm hoping it cheers her up to be back in with him and she gets back to normal.
If she's not vastly improved in a week I'll book her an appointment at the specialist for my day off on the 6th of November.

I did notice she'd done one of the large elongated poops like obi does last night so I wonder if whatever it is that's wrong with him has spread to her of if it's just coincidence.

The pen arrived early so she's been in with obi since about mid day. She hasn't been eating and didn't even want her meds this evening which is the worst she's ever been.

I'm booking the specialist for the coming Wednesday. Really worried about her tonight.

I am sorry to hear this . Has she only just been put back with Obi, sorry I have lost track of what is going on with their bond . If so she may not be eating due to stress ?? Even being in a new pen may be stressful for her.

Yes she'd only just been put back in with him; initially she ate some hay and parsley and seemed pretty bright but then went downhill.
I brought her back to my room overnight and she started eating and pooing again around 5am but has now stopped (very usual for her at the moment)
I'm booking the specialist for Wednesday and Obi's soft poo is going off to a lab so maybe that will show something up.

I'm considering putting her back in the room she lived in when she first came indoors. Every chance she's had since she moved out of that room she's darted in there and under the table where she used to lie with her sister. Maybe she'd be more comfortable in there.

I would try this. Vibes for your girl & Obi too x

Is she still on pain relief? She may need it for a bit longer if not.

I keep having to up mine with Doughnut as she's still not pain free.

I stopped the tramadol on Wednesday after she was confirmed ulcer free and have been reducing the amount of loxicom.
She was eating and pooing slightly less initially but the amount was increasing night on night until last night.

Her eating has been very strange since the dental, she's barely nibbling anything throughout the day and mostly declines the offer of critical care but at night she's happily munching away. ~10pm-9am you'd never know anything was wrong with her.

She's booked in at the specialist on Wednesday.

The specialist couldn't really tell me anything new yesterday so we opted for blood tests.
It's almost like Lola finally understood why we keep taking her to the vet though, the second we got home she went and had a big drink then ate hay nonstop for about half an hour (in the middle of the day!!). Her eating over the last 24 hours has been the most frequent and consistent since this all started (though still not her usual self).

Blood results showed she's been anemic (but her body appears to be fixing it) and signs point to kidney issues (she has high calcium). We've replaced her metacam with tramadol but I've only got enough for another day so I've called my vet for some more.

I was giving her some alfalfa hay to try and tempt her back in to eating hay so that's been stopped, and when I get in from work I'll be looking in to the calcium content of the foods she has on offer and remove any of those. Her main pellet when she's well is science selective which I believe is pretty low in calcium anyway. We're in a soft water area so calcium in the water shouldn't be a problem.
Going to retest in a month and see where we're at.

I still don't feel like I know why she seems fine at night but bad during the day.

Now I just need to decide whether to try and rebond her with Obi. Bonding itself will be stressful but I think being back together would be good for both of them. It'll be impossible to give her free access to herbs and keep an eye on her input/output though.

Thank you omi

Just heard from the other vet and obi does indeed have parasites so I wouldn't be surprised if lolas problems are at least linked to the parasites

So lola has been gradually improving but still not herself. I decided the best thing now she is eating a little consistently through the day would be to get her back in with obi.
The first bonding session (about two hours) did not go fantastically. Obi chased her a fair bit and pulled some fur out. We called it a day on a good bit of time with him flopping near her. She seemed fine and stayed in the bonding area eating hay then went back to our room and continued eating. I checked on her a little later and she took some parsley from me. Checked on her just now and she's declining all food again, even banana. I've given her ranitidine and emeprid and a little critical care. Hopefully she perks up soon but its so hard to know what to do going forwards.

Oh dear, well personally I would not attempt re-bonding until both Rabbits have been back to their normal selves for a good few weeks. Bonding is exceptionally stressful in most cases and as you know stress can actually exacerbate gut problems. I am really sorry things are still so difficult and I hope that Lola is doing better again now.
