  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sweet dreams Rudey

ha ha - he can have as much forage as he likes  He is tucking in to winter rations of dried as we speak. He had geranium & pear leaves for breakfast followed by a massive chunk of cucumber. Booble & Rudey love cucumber, Mouse & Joey are like WTF are you eating

I have yet to have a Rabbit who likes cucumber !!

They didn’t give Lillian a GE for her X-ray last week for her urinary infection. Vet said they just put her in a plastic crate/box with some support and all was good. Calcium shows up lovely and white on x-rays so if there is anything there, an x-ray will certainly show it.

ever? Thats nuts I have 50% though I did realise it was more unusual than not

Well, you know how all Rabbits are meant to love Banana (a 'bad' food!!). In the last 20+ years I have cared for about 150 Rabbits and not one has like Banana

Good it should be easy to spot then Craig

JJ - was hoping my bunnies wouldn't like banana but I didn't know for sure. I just offered each of them a tiny bit & they all devoured it

Treacle has 1/2 a thin slice every morning :? I get mugged when I sit down with my breakfast bowl, she tries to climb my legs

Rudey is to go on antibiotics for a while & has been booked in to have conscious abdominal xray on the 21st - giving the antibiotics a chance to work

I really like his vet, she is very kind & happy to pander to my neurosis, also happy to go off researching things for him

Feeling confident about the Vet treating our Bunny is half the battle won. I have no problem if my Vet says 'I dont know, but will do some research/Contact a Specialist about a problem that she admits is outside of her knowledge. Far better than ploughing on in the dark and not wanting to admit that the Vet does not know it all.

I hope that the abx help and that the Xray gives some clues as to what may be going on xx

And that should take a mahoosive weight off your shoulders. We place our deep love and affection into our pets and we expect that the professional intervention supports and maintains that. To have a vet that upholds those values and indeed works with them, is such a blessing. I share your feeling and feel lucky that we have vets that are of the same values.
Topping up the vibes for Rudy and hope the x-ray goes well.

Thanks Craig. I think she has a soft spot for Rudey - mind you he is so, so lovely you'd have to be a monster not to find him adorable.

We really appreciate the vibes.

Rudey has taken his sulfatrim between 2 malted shreddies smeared with banana. Must taste better than baytril . Very pleased there's to be no squirting drugs in to reluctant bunny mouths
