Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
Thank you.Ah good luck. It's hard when it's a mystery and you're doing everything you can. I hope you get some answers.
Thanks Petsmum xx
So, we're just back. I saw a different vet today, another locum. He was very thorough with the examination, checked ears, teeth, tummy, chest and temperature. Everything still seems fine.
He said I could have the option of continuing with the baytril to give it a bit longer to work or we can go ahead and do CT scans. I asked to go ahead with the scans and he's doing two referrals: one to the RVC and one to the local animal hospital, just so I have the option of choosing one of the two. I'm going to go with the RVC. It is a bit further to travel but I want the top brass on the case.
Just to manage my expectations, he did say there was no guarantee the scan will give a definitive answer as to why she's sneezing so much. I'm ok with that, just for my own peace of mind I need to know I've explored every possible avenue.

She's doing well, thank you for asking. How is she today? x
Hi all
Just wanted to give a quick update on our appointment today. She's booked in for a scan next week. Unfortunately they only do them on Thursdays so we missed this week's slot.
She was given another going over by the specialist, again nothing concerning on the examination. She did notice however that even though her nose is nice and clean her left nostril was a bit wet. She did confirm that her paws didn't show any signs of her wiping away any discharge. When they do the scan they'll try and take a deep nose swab if there's signs of discharge up there and then try and develop a culture.
I'll update again after she's had the scan next week. I have mixed feelings about the results. If everything comes back clear then there's the reassurance there's nothing wrong with her teeth or that she's harbouring a nasty illness but we'll be no nearer to solving the mystery. If tooth roots are the cause of it, then we'll have the answer but it would also mean she's a dental bun [emoji17]
So my tasks for next week are to monitor Fudgie to make sure she's still well in herself. Second task is to try not to drive myself round the bend with conjectures on what the scan may or may not reveal!
