Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Lillian please - U/D 9th July

She looks bright eyed and bushy tailed

yes, looking gorgeous & looks very healthy. i think it's a great sign, not only eating a bit more but keen to get outside and munch. not at all 'withdrawn'.
you must be very relieved at the positive progress. i hope things continue to improve. xxx

Latest update from today - 6th. Lillian has been out since about 9am this morning. She was flat out sploofed when I got up and didn't look like much had been eaten during the night although there is more output - some a wee bit on the not so solid side. I'm not unduly worried about that yet as I feel I need to get the input going in as a priority and then worry about the 'other end'.
She's not a fan of gut meds but doesn't mind metacam. Once outside, she attacked the same triffid thing that is on the right of our garden - I have no idea what gardener folks call it but Lillian is a big fan. That was washed down with some rose leaves and off she went. Each time I've been oustide she's been having a bit of a nomm. Not permananet nomming, but casual grazing. Overhanging bush things, grass, leaves. She's not belting round the garden, so she is taking it easy but she is happy to chomp on whatever tasty green things she finds - but strangely she's not quite as keen to eat when she is inside.
She seems content - just not alot of energy - although as someone did point out - it's a bit melty melty warm here and even I'm leaking like a sieve just putting washing out and washing the car, cutting the lawns and doing other stuff outside. So I wouldn't like to have a fur coat on as well.
I'll keep updating as there are more developments.
Thank you all again for all your vides.
Craig xx

If it's any consolation Craig, Phillip and Snow have both been like that since the hot weather started. Very sleepy and not wanting to eat their veg and greens with their usual enthusiasm.
Glad Lillian is starting to feel better though. Sometimes rabbit recovery seems to take such a long time, but it sounds like she is getting there :)

Evening update for you. A (very soggy) Lillian was finally ushered in at about 7p as I'd had enough of rain and it was getting cold. Lillian had decided to stop out and find some shelter in the garden but not really enough so she is 'moist'. She has been chomping on garden forage and when she came in, began to tuck into some chopped greens and some carrot tops (soon to be phased out).
I am hoping that her appetite is now beginning to return as she has spent the day voluntarily foraging (in between snoozes) and it is possible, and only a slight optimism, that she is turning the corner at long last. 2 weeks down the line and we may just be seeing the old Lillian return. She's presently under the living room table - she hasn't really come into the living room these last 2 weeks, and Henry is being his usual attentive self and making sure she is looking her best. She is fast asleep!!
It's nice and toasty in the living room so she'll soon dry off.

Bless her! The garden will be thankful for some rain. We really need some here but it keeps missing us. I really hope Lillian has turned a corner now. X

U/D 10pm. Lillians appetite HAS returned - with a vengance! She's presently got her nose planted in the dried food (russell rabbit) dish - she's not shown any interest in dried food since her op.
I feel quite relieved that she has shown an interest back in dried food - at the same time I can now manage that a bit more but she can have her evening of full tummy for now. She can finally go and have a good nights sleep tonight, safe in the knowledge that she is feeling better inside and now on her road to recovery. I am sure she feels better now after today, and hopefully she can move forward after a pretty hairy last 2 weeks. I honestly contemplated renting a room at the vets surgery.
She is going back to the vet on Tuesday to see the exotic specialist - just because we booked it last week as a safeguard. It makes sense to me to fulfill that obligation and have some final checks done on her by the exotic specialist. Getting her signed off is the best thing we can all have here now, and she can then go about building her confidence and strength back up, and her weight down. She's had a traumatic 2 and a half years of life - she deserved better from me and I have learned more from this episode and her wellbeing is my priority.
On the advice of this forum, I have purchased some bottled still water to help reduce the calcium intake from our tap water - it's small steps but hopefully help both Lillian and Henry.
I know I've said it in my opsts, but your vibes have been so so welcome and your support and advice invaluable. I am eternally grateful for everybun following and inputting and sending vibes. Lillian I know, would send you all her special nose bumps for helping her through quite a major operation that saved her life.
Thank you all
Craig and Lillian. xxx

So pleased to hear she has her appetite back  well done Craig, Mrs Craig and Lillian

U/D Sunday evening 9:30pm.
Lillian has had two lovely days this weekend, and it's been a joy to share them with her. The garden has been her sanctuary and she has been so keen to get out and explore.
She has eaten heartily and anything green and leafy has gone between her teeth! She has chilled in a way I've not seen her before- so relaxed and plenty of gentle sploofs. Henry has been around for support and I think Lillian has needed that.
Her overall demeanour is positive and she now has a turn of speed that is quite something. Two weeks ago she was slow and laboured, now she is quick and agile as I found to my cost when it was time for her to come in tonight.
We gave her only one dose of metacam tonight and the gut meds we stopped on Friday. It doesn't appear that we need them as she is certainly happy to eat on her terms.
In a funny way, when I hold her, I think she knows we are trying to help her and make her feel better. We talk to her and maybe in her own little way, she feels that she is safe with us.
Lillian is presently having supper nomms of some fresh chopped greens and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
I think she will again enjoy a good nights sleep and she has a new sleep area with a view of the garden so she can watch the world but know she is safe where she is. And Henry comes to give her a cuddle every night so she's not alone.
I'll post some more photos when I get a chance to take some, but hopefully now we are going in the right direction.
I cleaned their living area out this afternoon and there is plenty of output now and importantly loads of wee. All quit positive signs.
Craig xx

Really pleased to read this update, you must be very relieved!

Even though they hate us for doing it at the time, I'm convinced they do understand at some level that we're just trying to help them get better.
