  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Filavac or Nobivac first?

Which vaccine would you have first? I was going to do Nobivac first because that's the original vaccine however Charlie is 100% indoors while he is unvaccinated and I don't have wild rabbits in my garden or near by anyway.

I'm thinking that VHD and VHD2 are more of a risk so maybe I should start with Filavac and do Nobivac 2 weeks later instead?

Personally, I would go with the Filivac first for the reasons you’ve said, as RHD2 is so widespread now. There isn’t a right or wrong answer though ...... so long as he’s vaccinated ASAP with both :thumb:

all three of are of course a risk but filivac covers rhd 1 & 2, which are both airborne. myxi is spread via contact if I'm not mistaken, so other infected rabbits, fleas etc, so you can at least somewhat protect from that. I've always gone for filivac first and then been very careful with the risk of myxi :)

Thankyiu I'll deffo go with filavac first, I'm 100% sure it's filavac iWork there so had a rummage in the fridge, we don't get through may rabbit vaccines unfortunately.

I think the risk of VHD is greater based on the current circumstances and the fact that there a small chance of exposure at work too.

I'm already paranoid that we've had to delay his vaccines for another week as his conjunctivitis isn't quite cleared up yet!
