  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Could Sophie have some RU Vibes Please. - Good News

Sophie is breathing fast and the Vet says her lungs sound congested. Temperature was ok and he doesn't think she could take a GA for an X-ray, so we have Baytril 0.5m twice a day. She weighs 1.3kg she is a Nethie but she has lost a little bit of weight. She is still eating but not enthusiastically.

She seems a little brighter this evening - she took her baytril on a Shreddy  The Vet was lovely, really took a lot of time examining her. Thank you for the vibes!

Really pleased that she seems brighter. What a good girl too for taking her nasty-tasting Baytril on a Shreddy

She seemed a bit "low" first thing (7am). I wondered if she was feeling cold although she has always been outside. I left a Shreddy with the Baytril for her then went out. Now she is sitting in the sunshine and the Shreddy has disappeared! Really I think it's a case of fingers crossed. The Vet didn't say she had an infection, just her chest was noisy? I think the time of the year has something to do with it. She doesn't seem to want to live with another rabbit but she enviously watches the other pairs  I have tried to bond her twice.

She's hardly done any poohs overnight  The Vet gave her a gut stimulant and she has eaten all the food I have given her.
