  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Calcified ear canal ....

I’m glad she has come through the op, I’m sending lots of vibes for her recovery xx

Thanks everybody. My 6.30 pm message said she hadn't eaten at that point but had got up and had a little wander around.

Hopefully she has perked up more overnight and although she may still not be eating for herself it wont be too much longer before she does so. Lots more vibes being sent xx

Topping up the vibes for her, I hope she continues to improve and starts eating soon.

Thanks so much for the good wishes. Sorry for the late reply everyone, life got a bit chaotic (as ever).

Lolly is still at the vets, she's okay in herself, ear healing well, she's now off Tramadol and she's just starting to eat well but poos not very big so they want her to stay until they are happy with the poos. With the original plan she was going to go back to see the vet on the Monday so the vet whose overseeing her will be in tomorrow and decide on a plan.

She has to go back the week after to have the stitches out and a clean up under sedation.

Hopefully the poops will start to get back to normal now she’s starting to eat well. I’m topping up the vibes for her, and hope she can come home soon :thumb:

It sounds as though she is making steady progress. Sending lots more vibes for a very brave Bunny

Just a quick update.

Lolly was home for a week then had to go back to have the stitches out. It's all healing nicely, the protocol at the vets I use is to just leave the ear for a week after surgery and then do a big clean up under sedation whilst removing the stitches. The specialist looked in on her and was very happy with how it's healing. She coped really well with that vet admission and apparently was quite friendly rather than timid this time. I have some cream to put on the slightly sore areas for a fortnight then she has a post-op check. She's taken quite a liking to willow in the meantime so I've been kept busy gathering it for her
