Shade for playhouse

Hi all,

Thinking ahead to summer, what do those of you with playhouse set ups do to create shade?

Our garden is in full sun at the hottest time of day so I can't just choose a shady spot. I cover the run with white sheets and tarps but have had minimal success trying to shade the playhouse with parasols.

Thinking of getting a gazebo this year but am not sure how awkward it would be to get in place. Also considered mounting a retractable awning on the house so I can share the shade.

Any inspiration would be helpful please!

Here's a photo of the space. Excuse the mess, the hutch will be rehomed and mud turfed!

You could start with painting the roofing felt white to deflect heat. How about some kind ofarch or pergola?

Does the white felt make a big difference? Hadn't thought of that, I'd previously tried fixing silver bubble insulation to the roof.

A pergola sounds nice [emoji4]

Mine's in full sun for a long time, morning until late afternoon. I put that radiator reflector stuff on the roof, foil side out, so it's a little insulated in winter and reflecting in summer. Pictures:

I used Impact Glue that was OK for expanded polystyrene and it's still fine, three and a half years later. I've always planned to paint the house white but never gotten around to it. My bunnies do have the ability to move to the other side of the garden, the side against the house which faces north-north-east, and use the hutch or dog crate, and they usually do, but it doesn't get super hot on the playhouse. Here's the main setup (bunnies are on lawn in distance in supervised-only pen).
