Tiny poops & moulting

Leesa

Warren Scout
Coco’s poops are quite a bit smaller than they usually are (about half to two thirds the size), on inspection whilst they aren’t strung together with hair, they do have fur inside the poops. Both of my buns have been moulting and she’s regularly grooming Fudge.

I can’t see any signs of Statis otherwise - her appetite is normal and drinking, no bloated stomach. She’s just flipped out and lay down so doesn’t look to be in any pain. She has however just changed her medication (the specialist vet found her bladder is in the wrong place and we’re trying to find a solution to her incontinence), she was previously on propalin, and whilst it was helping it hasn’t cured the problem, so we’re now trying incurin. She’s on quarter of a tablet per day for 12 days in total and we’ll be 6 days in later today when she has it. She hates being held so is cranky with us for picking her up to pop the tablet in her mouth. Other than that she’s the same apart from the poops.

It’s likely she’ll have to go back to the specialist vet anyway for more tests as it doesn’t look like the incurin is working so far.

I’m ideally not wanting to stress her out by taking her on an extra trip beforehand, so wondering if there is anything I can feed etc first to pass any hair that may be building up? Or do you think this needs addressing straight away at the vets?

dear leesa,-please check out this website: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html and http://www.medirabbit.com these are two websites I depend on --sincerely james waller from the other kent wa.st.usa

Thanks, I’m not really finding much on there. She’s still eating her cetophrobes and no runny poo. I found on one of the sites:

‘Small dry droppings are an indication of dehydration, decreased appetite, onset of stasis, lack of fiber in the diet, disease, or medication.’

She’s still eating hay fine, is as nuts as ever for food. Running round getting excited, no hunching over etc. I had anticipated about dehydration from another website so have been offering her some mixed with a little sugar free vimto, which she has took some of as well as drinking water. So my thoughts are it’s either the medication or a blockage starting to form.

I got stuck posting and meant to add, she is seriously cranky this evening, on giving her meds tonight she was making guinea pig noises (never heard a rabbit do that before) and then attacked our other bunny. She doesn’t seem in pain and her stomach is not bloated so i’m going to see if I can take her to the specialist vet tomorrow morning. I googled the incurin and it’s a hormonal drug so wondering if that is making her annoyed (although she hates being picked up and meds given at the best of times).
