  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dexdomitor safe for rabbit spays?

Thank you every one for the vibes. I will keep you posted on how every thing goes.

Truffpuff. It makes perfect sense. I will be asking more questions tomorow before they go in for the op. Thank you for the info.

MightyMax. I think there are separate reasons for all these things not just the hormoans. The bitting me is because I’m giving the infacol and she’s really hating it. The even more excessive chewing could be down to the frastration of not having her partner in crime and I think this because some of it is to try and get in the hutch but also she spends a lot of time sitting with harlequin but with mesh between them.

Omi. Yes Brandi is going to be helping with their recovery and keeping a very close eye as well as helping me put up the new pen and getting every thing ready for when they come home.

Thanks Jacks-Jane.

It may be that we just need get well vibes. Beauty hasn’t pooped at all in the last 4 hrs didn’t go to bed untill 2 and nothing in that time. She did the same last night then I managed to restart her yesterday with the infacol. She is still eating though. And is quiet active as usual.

It may end up we just see a vet and try to get her pooping again.

In this situation should I get Harlequin spayed even if Beauty isn’t or would it be better to wait and get them done at the same time?
