Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Nancy's Abscess, Teeth and Eye Ulcer Update 15/02/19

Den

Mama Doe
Finally something good/positive to report after a rubbish 2018 and bad start to 2019.

Nancy's eye ulcer has completely gone after nearly 2 months of eye drops. Thankfully she didn't need any further surgical intervention.

Her abscess wound healed and so far (2 months tomorrow) there has been no sign of it recurring. Her fur is growing back nicely.

She is on a course of Panacur at the moment as she was showing signs of her EC flaring up (weeing outside the litter box and extra thirsty). 2 weeks in and her symptoms have improved.

Going forward she is to have monthly teeth checks. This is because she showed no signs of pain/not eating, even when the abscess was evident and Alex(vet) wants to try and prevent this happening again. As he would rather she has (possibly regular) dentals and not suffer the trauma of before.

Nancy and I would like to thank everyone who sent her vibes, love and thoughts.xx

Well done Nancy, this is such a brilliant update :D

Well done Nancy - so pleased things are healingup well. And well done to you Den for all your hard work and perseverance. I'm sure Nancy will continue to thrive under your love and care.

Teeth and general health check yesterday.

Nancy's teeth/mouth look exactly the same as 4 weeks ago and no spurs. She has put on a little weight.

What seems like the first time in years we've come home with no meds or drops.:thumb:
