Rabbit hutch cover?

Anyone got anything that fits a large 6ft hutch? All the ones online seem to just fit a small 4ft hutch, I really just need to buy something that works, if there's a DIY method that's fairly fuss free and easy I'd give it a go if anyone has suggestions?

Normally I'd try properly fix this.. But I just don't have time, and I need the buns to be dry til I can do a more permanent fix, so any suggestions welcome.

(the roof leaks)

tarpaulin? flexible plastic sheet? corrugated plastic? if you used the corrugated plastic and made it bigger then you need, then the water will roll off.

other than that I'm not much help :(

Yea we have tarps, I just wanted something maybe a bit prettier? Also where they won't suffocate.. I'm probably asking too much [emoji38]

Dream scenario - there's this 6ft universal cover, made for not a flat roof hutch, where its got these little ties where you can tie it to size, and a roll up front so they can get air.. [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

yea thats fair. idk I was just thinking if you could attach it to the top it would stop the leak until you could get something better. more short term solution. I wasn't really considering the front. I know a lot of people use flexible plastic (idk the name ) and attach it to the hutch with some holes cut in for air flow, and have it "split" into sections so they can roll it up to allow the hutch and buns to breathe in good weather.

I remember enquiring on-line to a company who said would make the corregated plastic sheets to fit, with holes drilled so that they could be hooked on and taken off.

There's some 6ft covers here, couldn't remember if you had a single or double hutch. Not cheap though!

Otherwise, as bc said maybe a tarp. We have a massive glass clear one that can be draped over and it can be fixed with ball Bungee straps. Hth x

This is the hutch. Definitely do not recommend [emoji38]

Yea I saw those but I wondered if the not flat roof would be an issue? Idk :/

Ah, I see, the roof could be an issue with those, as they are designed to fit snuggly over! Hmmm x
Yeaaaa plus apparently its a few centimetres too short for the hutch according to measurements [emoji38]

What a pain [emoji38] thanks though x

I’ve got a six ft double hutch and I use the chartwell covers from Home and Roost. I believe they have a selection of covers.

Mine had a bit of a leak, but I made another cover to go underneath it for more protection using thin tarps and duct tape which was easy to do and it sits under the cover so u can’t see it, now it’s completely waterproof and you can roll up the cover during warmer weather too.

Hope this helps

I have had a couple of those covers from cabj etc and they last for a few years. I take mine off in the summer as the sun will rot them.

Does your hutch have a flat roof? :)

I've emailed the hutch company, because I'd have to keep it on in the summer.. Because it's just not water tight [emoji849]

If it's just the roof that's leaking, can you not felt it, as it's pitched? I felted Lopsy's when it leaked as it had this lovely bit of wood along the ridge which basically shrunk  Not 'pretty' but totally not ugly (if done well) and you can leave overhang to cover any, erm, 'gaps'...! So Losy's went from this (not the greatest photo):

Took me about 15mins start-finish as it's so tiny. I'd recommend covering the whole rof though, I only did part because it's gravelled. More like this:

Note I have left LOADS hanging down so the water doesn't run back up under the felt and get into the wood. That took me about 45mins I think?

Yes it doesn't cover the front etc. but it'll solve your immedeiate problem if I've imagined it right.

Yea problem is the roof can lift up for cleaning and I just don't see where I'll be about to neatly attach any tbh. It's annoying, ima tarp over it tonight to hopefully keep inside dry, I've emailed the company, but I'll have to come up with something I guess :/

How do you attach the felt? Nails? Or something?

We always buy the clear plastic tablecloth from the range so that it doesn’t plunge them into darkness when the days get windy and cold. You can have it cut to whatever lengths you need. I’ve made separate clear panels for the sides of my bunnies runs using self adhesive Velcro so they can be taken off in the spring/summer :)
