Can Rabbit Pellets be fed to the Birds?

tonibun

I have some pellets that the bunnies aren't very keen on and hate to waste things but I don't want to make the birds ill.

I don't know for a fact that they are OK, but our chickens like them:) The chickens get fed their "supper" of oats and milk each evening next to the rabbit outside accommodation. The rabbits are always very interested and sometimes beg for some food, which is usually the odd pellet. When a pellet has been dropped on the ground, the chickens have been very quick to grab it and eat it :) I can't imagine that there is any ingredient in pellets, which would harm birds.

They are fine

The only reason I don't do it often as I don't want to encourage 'vermin' :)

My neighbours at the back feed the birds big-time. I don't as I don't want to encourage cats! The neighbours keep everything clean though and it gives them something to enjoy. He's 91 now!

dear toni bun,-I have raised homers[pigeons]for 15 years, they are primarily grain and seed critters, how ever some pigeons like pellets that one would feed chickens,[mine do-not],-now you are asking if birds eat rabbit pellets,??-check out the ingredients for them,,--the pellets my rabbits eat are purina rabbit chow complete,--try calling an avian dvm.-,the birds will taste them first, maybe as a treat.-sincerely james waller from across the great pond the other kent wa.st.usa 98032
