  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hamilton Gut Stasis

That's a relief! Has he recently had some meds as well as the syringe feed?

We gave him meds around 5.00pm, so perhaps that helped too?

Tonibun, he has kale, spinach, cabbage and coriander on a daily basis. Just a small bowl/ 1 'cups' worth.

I was about to go out but checked on him first - he's eaten some of the smoothie, a big pile of greens and now eating pellets like nothing is wrong. Maybe the small amount I syringe fed him helped? Who knows!

What a relief! I am glad he's behaving more like himself.
I hope this is maintained this time and that he gets completely better x

Perhaps. I was thinking of the Metacam, but I guess it could equally have been the gut meds. As you say it could also have been that the syringe feed made his tummy feel a bit more comfortable.

I hope he continues now to eat properly.

Just letting you guys know that Hamilton is okay again now. Sorry I haven't updated sooner - I've only just started to feel better myself. Thank you for the vibes everyone, I really appreciate them <3
