  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

No poop just mucus and what looks like blood from anus

It depends on the rabbits. I prefer to leave longer rather than shorter, as it prevents distress in the long run by the companions wondering where they have gone. Also, grief/bereavement takes time to process.

I would usually leave overnight and you will be able to tell when they have accepted the loss and are ready to move on as they won't be interested in the body any more.

Whatever you feel is right G, it's very hard for you as well x

They are both sat together at the other end of the room after sniffing him. I think they know

Just over 2 months since we lost Milo and we have now lost Bailey his wife. Devastated is not the word. She was my first bun that I got 7 years ago and she taught me so much about rabbits and how amazing they are as she hopped around my bedroom and into my heart. She was like no other so licky and would run up to you as soon as you walked through the door. She thought she was a puppy. She had been with me since my uni days when she used to sit at my feet stretched out under my desk and relax while I worked, through a house renovation project and even into married life. My heart aches without her. The house is so quiet. She has left behind Oreo the last remaining member of our trio and I feel so sad for him. He's got extremely jumpy around people and has gone back to when he used to lunge (not bite) I think he got a lot of confidence from the others. Oreo has become totally free roam (as the best behaved member of the clan) who likes to sit in the same room as us and watch TV but isn't that fussed for strokes. He is also a particular fan of doing spazzy run round our bedroom at 2:30am - much to my husband's disgust. In time we may discuss getting him a friend but he needs to stop lunging first as that will cause fights. I just can't believe we only have one house bunny. I still forgot and told people I had 3 before remembering we no longer have Milo. And now we don't even have Bailey. I'm feeling very sad at the moment :,(
