Chronic gut issues?
Hi all,
Libby's x-ray, urine screen and blood results came back at the beginning of the week and they were normal across the board which is good.
There has been some improvement in her straining and pain up to a point. However, her gut is still like an engine that stops and starts and she is dependent on the meds (Metacam, Metoclopramide, Ranitidine and some critical care in a spoon) to keep things ticking over, especially late afternoon/early evening after she has rested in the afternoon when you can she is moderate pain when producing poos.
She continues to be wet under the tail and when she produces poos - they are often in a small patch of wet.
I have been trying to bathe and dry her but a matt has now formed under her tail from the continuous wet - any advice on the best approach to this would be good - I think it has hardened from sitting outside in the run which she enjoys.
My vet is going to get a second opinion from a rabbit specialist but feels it may be low grade chronic gut issues.
I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this as I feel a bit stuck but am glad that my lovely girl is feeling a bit better in herself at times!
Thanks,
Nicki
