Kiwi (budgie)

Sadly wee Kiwi was put to sleep yesterday he was only two and a half. That's him in my pic.He had showed signs of breathing problems a few months back.Antibiotics made no difference, his chest sounded clear.About three weeks ago he lost his speaking voice (mimic). Then his whistling ,chirping changed too.symptoms could be iodine deficiency, however he had an iodine block ,which he pecked and drops. The conclusion was more like a cancer in the larynx. He squeaked when breathing, poor wee guy.Kindest to let him go.I buried him the garden next to my previous bird Mr.Jinks. Fly free Kiwi.:(

Poor wee fella  I am very sorry

RIP Kiwi xx

I'm so sorry :( Too young to die :( But he's at peace now. xx

Do you think it could've been fungus, like a yeast infection, or did the vet rule that out? I know they'll lose their voice/their voice will sound different with fungal infections.

Thanks all .Vet wasn't an avian specialist.Rare to find one.Never came across this in over thirty five years of keeping budgies. My previous boy was nearly 12 when he died, due to a cancer of the preen gland.Rest easy Kiwi.

I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to Kiwi when he was still a young bird. Sending love from me and Bertie bunny. xx
