  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Im terrified i am loosing Jimby... ive lost my baby

Jane, the vet did an xray to see if he had a blockage in his tummy but the lungs showed on the xray and he has several tumours in his lungs and reduced space so he will be short of breath.
Have you ever used cbd oil in a rabbit?

Poor Jims

No, I have not used cbd oil xx

Should i ask gor more tests or to see a specialist?

I cannot make that decision for you Rach. Your Vet has clearly seen significant abnormalities on Jims' lungs. Whether the 'masses' are abscesses or tumours would need further diagnostics- biopsies taken under GA, but is Jims strong enough to go through that ? I would speak with the Vet again and ascertain if he/she feels certain that it is a malignancy and not a severe infection. That he/she is of the opinion that having a 'last chance saloon' try with aggressive injectable abx therapy, plus possibly nebulised abx is not an option.

As heartbreaking as it is eventually a time has to come when we cannot 'fix' our beloved Rabbit. We cannot buy them immortality. Even the most skilled Vet in the world cannot do the impossible

Spoken to the vet again today and she said she doesnt feel it would be fair on Jims to put him through anything else and that the way the tumours are presenting it would not be a infection. I asked for a calk to richard saunders but she said there is nothing that can be done, his chest is full of timours and any more intervention apart from keeping him comfortable would be for my benefit not his.

Terrible news, I'm so sorry :(

So sorry Rachel about this. Don't worry about breaking down in front of the kids either. I've cried in front of Eloise many times! Thinking of you x

My heart hurts so much, Jims took his last breaths in my arms around 1.45am. He gasped a few times and let out a little squeak. I feel lost, Cookie said goodbye and when i went in to get him out and wrap him up his tongue was out and i swear i heard him breath but he was stiff so he has definitely gone right?
My baby, if love could have saved you, you would have lived forever, my baby, my best friend and my soul mate, i will love you forever xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Rach, I am so so sorry  Jims will always remain with you in your heart. Our Soul Rabbits are never more than a heartbeat away from our side.

RIP Jimby xx

I'm so, so sorry to read your news. I know how hard this will be for you. I'm glad at least you got to be with him. I've always found that the anticipation and the fear of the loss is all consuming but he's at peace now, you don't need to fear him hurting, nothing can hurt him now. It will feel surreal for a while but you will get through this.

I am so sorry to read this sad news. You were there with him and Jim will always be a part of your soul. Binkey free Jim. xx
