Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
Thank you both for asking about her she is remarkable and keeps me inspired, the mammary lump I found isn't a lump more like development so vet thinks my poor little munchkin has had babies at some point we took a sample through a needle and no nasty cells so yay and she still has her leg with what I can only describe as a doughnut strapped to it, it took a full 24 hours of fluids meds and syringe feeding to get her eating again but she's now eating and pooping (loads) orthopaedic specialist looked at her again and his opinion is still to continue on cage rest for another 4 weeks although the bone is very close to the skin surface his hope is that the bone will remodel itself if we can prevent it becoming compound, which is where the doughnut comes in its to prevent any pressure on the surrounding tissue without full immobilisation and so far she tolerates it better than a splint and is doing really well I have all fingers crossed she makes a recovery so I can get her spayed and all being well she is getting her vaccine in a couple of weeks
I think she definitely came into my life for a reason she's inspired me so much this last week to keep going
