  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Flystrike warning

Thank you all for your thoughts.

We got Cassie admitted earlier today for fluids, pain meds, emipred and they also gave her some critical care. She is back home with us now, albeit a little sleepy so keeping a close eye on her x

Rambo decided this morning that if Cassie did not want to eat all the critical care then he would (such a greedy boy!)

Topping up the vibes for Cassie

Thank you all.

Today Cassie is a bit better and is eating more and has been grooming Rambo and herself.. We are continuing with Baytril now and metacam

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, vibes and support as they have worked :)

Cassie has progressed again today and been out in the garden like her usual self. We are continuing with meds though as we need to get on top of the water infection and make sure it stays away.

So pleased to hear this :)

Thanks again. She is also dry now so looks like the baytril has worked where previous episodes of incontinence it did not. We will continue with it to make sure we are on top of it along with Metacam.

Jane - they said thank you for their nose rubs 😁
