  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Teeth again!

Teddy had dental surgery about 3 weeks ago now. I've drastically changed their diet, tried different types of hay and really cut back on the veg since then. I checked his teeth this morning, and noticed one side of his top teeth looks a millimetre longer than the other. It's the opposite side to where he had the problem before. Is it possible for them to get dental problems again so soon? I know their teeth grow quickly but he has no history of dental issues until a few weeks ago so I'm shocked (and worried) if it's come back so quickly. I'm going to monitor for the next few days and then take him to the vet if I'm not happy with him. Could he really have more problems again already?

I know some bunnies need very frequent dentals say 6 weekly but I’ve not heard of anybun needing it after 3. Hopefully someone else can advise.

Thanks, I really hope that I'm being paranoid. I could even cope with it being an error by the vet not ensuring they're even! I booked him an appointment on Monday evening just to be on the safe side.
