Sammy has stopped eating her nuggets.

Looking for some advise. Some people might know Sammy (8 years old female) has been unwell. She seemed to finally be on the mend. I won't go into all the details as there has been a lot going on. One thing was her drooling a lot. This has finally stopped. She seemed to be eating very well for about 8 days. Grass (still no hay), dandelion leaves and nuggets. As well as some kale, cabbage, carrot tops and broccoli. Some locus beans treats to encourage her to eat. She was finally eating her nuggets herself and she had put weight back on and kept it on. Her ideal weight is 3.5kg. She had dropped to 2.7kg at her worst. The vet wanted her over 3kg again. The week before last she was 3.1kg and kept that weight last week too. Her poos were pretty much perfect, nice and big and round. Recent Xrays of her absess showed a very pale bit compared to very dark originally. My vet is getting advice from an expert she knows about the results. Suddenly on Thursday for no apparent reason she wouldn't eat any nuggets again. She would still eat grass and would run over for a treat when I rustled the packet. She started chewing everything skirting board, carpet, lino. She has plenty of things she is meant to chew! She did this same behaviour weeks ago. The vet checked her teeth last week and they are still ok. Her poos are very very squishy/sticky and smelly. They don't look like the cecotropes, there is no definition to it, it's just a mess. She also did some very small hard ones, also not shaped properly. I have since found slightlymore solid huge ones, it's like one big mass in a bullet shape. She has done a few of theseovernight and some slightly bigger more normal looking ones. Her stomach has been making a lot of noises. Last night I gave her a bit of zantec. I had this for her drooling in case it was gut related and can give it to her if she starts again. I'm not sure if this is the correct medicine for this type of issue though. She has also been making a slight noise now and then, sounds like from her throat, a bit like an indigestion noise a human might make. I wouldn't be too worried if she was healthy but this is the 3rd day not eating nuggets (other than 5 this morning!) and I'm concerned she will lose the weight that she has managed to gain. She doesn't seem to be in any real discomfort or any pain but she's just not quite right and I want to be in top of it quickly. Any advise as to whether zantec might help in this situation?

I would personally get her back to the vet by the sounds of the situation, and better still ask your vet to refer you to the specialist vet.

Sending lots of vibes for her xx

Hi, thanks for the advice, I did pop into the vets today but my normal vet isn't in this weekend, she will be in Monday so if Sammy doesn't improve I will get her an appointment then. The specialist isn't local, my vet is very good with Sammy, it was the results of the xrays she wanted the second opinion on, the person she is emailing has a lot of knowledge at interpreting the results of the xray. The tooth with the absess is not loose at all and the vet said along with the position the tooth is in, it would be very difficult to remove by pulling it out normally. It might be necessary to get to it from underneath and taking out that way. Sounds horrible! At the moment she's not considering doing anything like that. Sammy had antibiotic injections which it looks like has helped a lot and she's certainly a lot happier apart from this new problem! The first xrays it was so noticeable, a large dark bit. It has a similar shape but very pale now. Fingers crossed the specialist gets back to my vet soon and agrees it's a positive sign.
