  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does anyone know what this is?

I noticed this on my beautiful boys ear this morning, does anyone know what it might be. I've felt it and it isn't a lump or bump, it doesn't feel any different to the rest of his ear it just looks a bit red. It doesn't seem to be bothering him and he isn't scratching at it....i'm hoping the picture has uploaded as I haven't a clue what I'm doing haha.

Stupid technology :censored:
Never mind, I will just keep and eye on it and take him to the vet tomorrow if need be, it doesn't look as red now as it did earlier so maybe he just caught it when he was preening himself or something ;)

Thanks MM, I've tried so many different things and I still can't do It, maybe I need to do it on a computer rather than a phone
He still has it on his ear, I will make an appointment for him tomorrow if it's still there...

often facebook images do not work..

if you are on a phone, download the tapatalk app and then find RU, log in and then you can upload images saved to your camera roll.

otherwise, use imgur (my personal favourite) and upload the image there. you can either use the direct link, and paste it between
, or you can just use the code for BB forums and paste it straight back here :)

Following on from my last post I think I may have figured out how to upload the photo.....

It looks like it could be a sebaceous cyst to me, which is harmless.

I hope your vet can reassure you when you visit :)

(I will let the Mods know that there's a new thread so that they can conflate them if necessary!)

Thank you, I got there in the end :)

I thought it looked similar to an in growing hair or something so that figures. Do u think I should still take him to the vet as soon as I can or would it be ok to wait....they have to go in 3 weeks anyway for their jabs so I could get it checked out then if it's harmless and keep an eye on it in the meantime...

Ah you're welcome :)

Why don't you bring the jabs forward? That's what I would do :)

I agree with MM re bringing the vacs forward. There have been a few cases of rabbits dying from RHD2 just a week or 2 short of their vacs. I don't wish to worry you but seeing as how you will possibly be going to the Vets it would be a good idea. Hope his ear will be ok.

Thanks Tonibun, it's the combined jab they are going for, they had the rhd2 in August but it might be worth bringing it forward if I need to take Oscar in anyway...

slightly off the subject but he is absolutely gorgeous. I hope his ear issue gets better soon

I merged the new thread, with photo, into this one, to keep it easier for you to follow. :D
