Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny ear nip?

That's really sad for Phoebe. I guess vets then didn't think bunnies felt pain. As if!!

It would almost be worth you handing them over to someone until the spay is over and two gentle bunnies are handed back to you
(not realistic I know, but would be nice!)

Yea when we took her back to the vets they seemed confused - but did give painkillers then - rubbish really, glad things have progressed exotic care wise

Yea that would be a great haha if only! They'll be stuck with me for days instead unfortunately haha x

Slightly better picture, I'm more convinced it was a nip and it looks like she's gunna have a notch out of her ear forever now :( I feel terrible I let it happen, still don't feel like separating them is a good idea tho.. They're so close :(

Yes you're right. Don't worry, a little war wound won't matter at all.

I agree, try and hold out until you see William before discussing separating them :)

Yea I will unless anything worse happens, trying to think when it could've happened..

When I first noticed it, it was hard to see because it was scabbed over so there was no notch missing and it blended in with her fur on her ears, scab was still there yesterday but today its gone and now its very obvious. Do you think it was very painful for her? I probably should've taken her to the vets when I noticed the scab :/

There's nothing a vet could have done about it, bar making sure it didn't get infected (which it hasn't).

The only thing I can suggest until they are both spayed is to give them more space. There's not a shed or garage or somewhere so that they can get away from one another if they wish? I doubt there is, but just a thought.

I think it's the stress of moving and now settling down. It's been a hard time for them both. I would just keep an eye out and I would be desperate not to separate as I think they would both be unhappy x

Not really unfortunately, the garage floor is bad the guy messed it up so it's so so sandy so not good really for them.

They have space but they're always together, like they get put in the huge pen everyday which is bigger than the hutch and attached pen, and they are always together still [emoji38] they spend more time together than Atticus and Clementine do..

I'm definitely not going to separate unless I really really have to, because I agree they'd be miserable.

It's funny, Penelope has the bite, but I always thought she was more in charge? Apricot is so so gentle even with Penelope.. It seems weird to me

It does seem strange :?

Hopefully it will all come out in the wash and maybe William will decide there's another obvious cause for the nick in the ear?

They do look like a very loved up couple of girls

Okay so Apricot has a bite on her nose :( I'm so worried about them, appointment with William is today hoping he'll have some ideas :(

Picture isn't great but around the little lump is a small amount of blood :'( didn't wanna move the fur too much just for a picture

Ah yes I see :(

Fingers crossed William will have some ideas.
It doesn't surprise me, but it's a pity ...

Good luck today x

It's such a shame and also somewhat unusual I would have thought for them to be so close the rest of the time. I hope that William can advise.

Yea :( with Atticus and Clementine even though they're bonded... They still hump each other and chase and pull fur occasionally but it always turns into nothing and the rest of the time they're very close - but I've always been so suprised how close Penelope and Apricot are they're so loved up.. I guess females at 6 months can just be like this..? Who knows?

Seen William, had vaccines, booked into be spayed next Tuesday with him, and they're are on panacur for 28 days each. Hoping nada goes horribly wrong before then :) gunna suck a little as I'll make sure I take a few days off, but my boyfriend can't really as he's starting a new job on Monday so I'll have to do it all alone which won't be funn [emoji38]

So I guess William thought spaying the sooner was the better option?

Does William always suggest Panacur for new rabbits?

Yea just said that they'd be fine and the sooner the better, confirmed the ear and nose things were bites too.

He said there's so many different theories about panacur and they don't know enough about it, and somewhere within all the mess of info is the truth (paraphrasing him)

He said there's some thoughts that doing 28 days to begin with and never doing it again (unless you have to) is the best. At first he said do them for 9 days, but changed it to 28 days. I asked if Atticus and Clementine should be done again and he said no. But he did say some people think buns should be done every 3 months or once a year. So we're going to do them now, and hope we don't have to again or nada bad happens ec or parasite wise.

Yes I totally concur with what William's said :)

I began a thread on here asking who did Panacur for 28 days on new rabbits to their households, and I only had one positive response. The other replies said they didn't, or else they did a short course only. I was surprised.

I feel that a one off 28 day Panacur (long and boring though that is) is best for new rabbits, then you've covered that base and hopefully won't have any troubles in that direction.

Yea let's hope, in the past I've only been given 9 days for a new bun which is what William said today he was going to give originally.. I'm confused what 9 does tbh..

I know 28 kills as covers whole cycle. But what's the point of 9 days?

9 days kills pinworms. But some folk (and vets) think it has a protective role with E.C. also.

Purely what people and vets have their beliefs in really. Yes, 28 days will cover the whole thing :)
