  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Been admitted - U/D She didn't make it (some upsetting content)

Our bun Skye has been admitted for treatment this evening :(

After work I went to check on everyone and instantly knew something wasn't right. She wasn't her usual excitable self and had left some pellets from the morning (which she never does). When I picked her up she was so much heavier than normal and all bloated and round.

I got straight onto the vets and took her in. The vet could feel that one side was full of gas and the other a huge amount of poo. She's going to have meds and fluids this evening as she's quite dehydrated too.

I'll be waiting on news in the morning. Any vibes gratefully received, thank you x

(oh and the irony isn't lost on me about my other thread)

Love and hugs and vibes coming your way xx

Thanks everyone for the vibes. I got a call this evening to say she was settled in being cared for by their rabbit savvy vet. I won't hear more till morning unless her condition deteriorates. It's not something I've experienced before with any of our rabbits, I just hope we caught it in time.

I have work tomorrow, so I'll update when I can x
