Baby Wild Rabbit Advice Please

Thanks MightyMax. I've changed my avatar to show Amber but the pic is displayed the wrong way around and blurry for some reason.

Little Amber continues to do well and has now decided that I am the best thing since a bag of freshly picked forage :D. He has become quite a little cuddle bun, even bruxes when his ears and face are stroked

I do have an issue that is concerning me. Firstly Amber, like any baby bun wants to run and jump and climb. He's taken to climbing onto my lap and then trying to jump up onto my shoulder. He has a weakness in one front leg, appears to have reduced vision in one eye and the head tilt. Inevitably he topples over backwards mid air but I have been able to catch him before he tumbles. He is so fragile and delicate I'm worried he's going to really hurt himself. There are blankets on the floor and he is not left unsupervised. I've had an adult rabbit with a quite pronounced tilt as a result of EC. However, as Amber was grabbed by a Stoat I think the tilt is a result of that. I'm just wondering if there is anything more I can do as regards treatment options, ie, should I give more anti inflammatory. I did give a few days initially but not having given it to a baby bun before I was worried about upsetting gut flora. We have a vet appointment on Monday for the first VHD2 injection. I can discuss with the vet but he is not a rabbit specialist. Apart from the problem of jumping Amber copes very well with his disability.

I've been reading about Mycofascial Release and also read it was used on a rabbit in the uk with very good results. Has anyone on here used it?

Also, can't seem to find much information about long term use of an anti inflammatory in baby rabbits.

I’m not sure if this is of any use, but Lorraine of Rabbit Rescue North West has a baby bunny Wobbly Bob, who their vets thinks was dropped or trodden on. He has neurological problems as a result, although not head tilt. He’s currently having physio input to try and improve his balance. He has a Facebook page if you’re on there https://www.facebook.com/Wobbly-Bob-the-life-and-times-of-a-broken-bunny-2075090426072463/ it might be worth messaging Lorraine who runs his page and sharing notes? I hope little Amber continues to do well x

Amber had her vhd2 injection yesterday and has to go back for the second vhd2 in 5 weeks time. She was an absolute trooper during the appointment and quite calm about vet handling her. I spoke to Dave about the metacam and he has prescribed her 0.1ml of the dog metacam for five days to see if there is any improvement in her head tilt.

We also came home with another wild bunny:oops:. He was attacked by a cat just over a week ago and the cat's owner has been looking after him. She apparently took him to another vet for anti biotics for the bite wound. The wound is healing up well. I would say baby bun is about 4 weeks old. Very scared at the moment but not too scared to sample the menu here .

Not that you would consider parting with her, but wobbly bob is soon to be in the market for a calm, probably disabled wifebun. Great news that she’s doing so well and hope new bun thrives in your TLC x

I knew about the baby bun last Friday, but had arranged to collect on Monday as we had an appointment. Dave removed the scab on the bite wound yesterday to clean it out and inserted a staple, which will be removed next week.

Dave agrees with me that Amber is very likely a girl and we think new baby is a boy. If so, it might be possible to bond them, but that will hinge on a number of factors I think. I haven't really thought too much about this yet. New bun has tentatively been named Sebastian.

Glingle, I do hope Wobbly Bob finds the love of his life. I watched the video, what a superstar he is. And, you are quite correct, I would not part with Amber.

I know that Amber had slotted into your heart as soon as you found her. I hope both buns continue to do well x

She's certainly got her little paws wrapped firmly around my heart. Although, I might have a different perspective in a couple of months when she starts in on the furniture, the sofa, my possessions and anything else she can get her teeth into!! Possibly aided and abetted by Sebastian too.
