Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Honey lost weight

It's been a few months since losing Charlie and Honey feels as light as a feather. She now weighs 1.43 kg and I think she used to weigh at least 1.5-1.6. she feels like she's lost condition too. She eats fine. Pooss fine. But I think she's lonely. However I can't get another. We were going to but for one reason or another things have changed and we can't. She has a cuddly toy but doesn't take any interest. I feel I may need to re-home but I love her so much. What do I do? 😢 I'm so sad for her

I’m so sorry you lost Charlie  have you taken Honey to the vets? She might need a dental or something?

Yes I agree, I think a Vet check would be a good idea in the first instance. I am sorry that you are faced with the possibility of having to rehome Honey. But if it turns out to be the best thing for her, because she is lonely, then I am sure you will do it.

I will take her to the vet just in case. I know it's not her front teeth as she doesn't have any lol but I will get her back ones checked again.

Hi Lucy, I'm sorry to hear about Honey. If she's sad and lonely then perhaps as you say, it would be the kindest thing to think about rehoming her in the long term.

However, in the meantime I would get her checked over by a vet. Is she eating OK and still losing weight?

She's got a great appetite and managing to eat well yes. She is majorly moulting though!

Moulting is quite stressful for rabbits, and they need a few extra calories. Can you feed her a few more pellets, to maybe a pinch of porridge oats (dry) twice a day?
