Hi!
Does anyone have any tips on making a new roof for a rabbit hutch?
Three years ago I invested in a 6ft hutch from Welfare Hutch Company. It was the best built hutch I could get for the money and I paid extra for preservative treatment and premium roof felt. Me and my rabbits loved it. Last summer I painted it a lovely sage green. It was the pride of my garden until this winter.
I know we've had a lot of bad weather but I was shocked to see mould growing on the inside of the roof. I cleaned it up and found the roof was rotting! Water had somehow got in and the ply roof was wet and soft all along the back of the hutch. I was so disappointed. I went online to find the company details so I could complain but I read that they've closed down.
I am so disappointed. I have really looked after the hutch and I expected it to last longer than 3 years. I'm even more disappointed that it's going to cost at least £70 to get all the bits to repair it. I can't just replace the ply because of the way it's constructed. I will have to build a whole new roof and frame.
