  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Jess has been spayed - aftercare

Yes there isn't really a set amount, as bunnies will just stop if they don't want any more. Sometimes I've managed a couple of syringes and sometimes over 20.

It depends what syringe you are using as to how many. I prefer to use a 1ml syringe for feeding a rabbit as it's easier to gauge and not so messy (ie not so much goes down their front).

Please don't get hung up on the amounts :)

As I mentioned, herbs are very good - coriander and parsley are faves here. Try and crush them up, release the aroma, tickle her nose with them and make her snatch them off you in disgust (and of course eat them).

Thank you, will give that a go with the herbs :). With regards to the syringe im just using the one supplies with the food so it goes up to 15ml.

*shes just eaten about half a syringe of baby food mentioned earlier. It didn’t have any critical care mixed with it but surely eating something is better than nothing? Will try her with some CC now.

Absolutely - some food is definitely better than nothing! :)

I should just give her whatever she will take. I tend to leave it 2/3 hours between feeds, or the rabbit gets stressed. In between, she may begin eating bits and pieces on her own.

Good luck xx
