Help with quantity of muesli

I'm new to RU so firstly hello to everyone! I've had a handful of buns in my lifetime but to cut a long story short I have just obtained my first from a breeder rather than pet shop. Her name is Luna and she was given to me along with some muesli, the problem is I have never fed this before so I don't know how much I should be feeding her daily? I have tried to have a look about and searched previous posts but can only see the pros/ cons of it and nothing quantity wise - all help will be most welcome!

Hello there and welcome! I have fed Muesli for a number of years and I am assuming you have a baby rabbit. A third of a rabbit bowl should be sufficient along with hay. You can also give a very small quantity of Readigrass which goes down well. Did you ask the breeder if your rabbit had had veg, so that you could continue giving small pieces.

Hello Tonibun, yes sorry she is only a baby (8 weeks). I've been feeding her standard hay along with alfalfa hay, I do have readigrass as well though, should I also give her this at the same time? I did ask and she said yes had nibbled on some of the mummy buns carrot and lettuce but didn't go into huge detail so was going to wait before introducing fresh foods? I've also been giving her a sprinkling of hay toppers although not entirely sure this is okay at this age? I've never had a bun this young either so feel a little paranoid lol

What is in the hay topper? I'm going to presume it's just dried forage leaves and flowers so won't be of any harm although not really needed if bun is eating hay without. I definitely wouldn't be feeding lettuce or carrot but rather stick to healthier stuff like dried herbs eg coriander although not a lot at that young age.
Will you be weaning her off the muesli and on to a decent pellet eventually?
I bet you feel like a mum with a new baby  Don't forget to share some pics of Luna x

I have a few different toppers, a dandelion, meadow mix, herb mix and a coltsfoot (a breeder recommended I get a topper, I may have gone overboard ) do I not have to feed the topper if she's eating hay then? I thought it would provide her with a bit of foraging stimulation? I've tried her on a bit of the dandelion, literally a couple pieces and her poop is still normal. My previous buns have all been on excel which they have all loved so yes that will be the intention. Just atm her and the second bun I'm due to get soon have been fed rabbit royale - again the one breeder suggest I buy a bag of this so I did! I don't know how to post pics, I'm using my phone currently as I'm being too lazy to get laptop out

:D It sounds like you are doing fine. Only the good bun mums are avid poop watchers  Carry on.
The hay toppers won't hurt and just as an aside my vet supports a No pellet diet.

I've heard of a no pellet diet but not confident on that myself yet, I'm intending to do some foraging when they are both a bit older and can appreciate the fruits of my labour though :p - now just to find a rabbit savvy vet close by, I used to use vets4pets by me but the rabbit expert has become a partner at another branch so isn't readily available anymore :( and yes I became a first time mum 5 months ago and I definitely feel like I have another baby to care for all day hehe

Yes you can give Readigrass at the same time as hay, just a little sprinkling until you get to know your bunny better. I have used Rabbit Royale for years so nothing wrong with that for now. Lettuce can cause runny poohs, carrot is high in sugar. I use Spring Greens as a rule, fresh grass is a favourite of course if it looks fresh and healthy. Just start off with tiny amounts of everything you try.

Sounds lovely :D

My rabbits get a very basic diet, and are always overjoyed when they get a bit of dried forage on top of their hay :)

There's also info on foraging fresh foods when you are ready to think about that.

Brambles are a good staple, and are usually available most of the year round. Good for digestion as well.
