  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Not eating

Thanks everyone :) will give the vets a call this evening for an update. It’s reassuring that the vet sounded so calm on the phone and yet I’m here worrying like anything!

Just talking to my husband about separating them and we’re thinking of putting a stair gate on the stairs keeping Betty upstairs and Jess downstairs until they’re both all settled and both fully recovered and then try rebond them.

That sounds like a good plan :)

Female hormones can take up to eight weeks to settle down, so you may be in for a bit of a wait, but it will be worth it.

More vibes for you all x

I think the vets seem to think its Jess bullying her which is causing stress as they put a note on Bettys file about it!

Just heard from the vets shes had a poo and some water but still not eating herself. If she starts eating then they are happy to send her home tonight otherwise fingers crossed for tomorrow morning. Feeling a bit relieved :)

I am pleased to read a more positive update. I hope that Betty continues to improve throughout the day xx
