Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Thank you so much for all of your good wishes, everyone xx
I have good news.
No, I have EXCELLENT news!
Coco was fully anaesthetised so that the vet could take thorough x-rays of her skull (to check teeth) and abdomen (to check for bladder/urethra stones and/or sludge, and also if there was sludge, to check for the cause of sludge i.e. a mass. Her teeth, for a middle-aged bun, were perfect and as expected, so that's fab. Her abdomen was clear! NO stones and NO sludge! He has come to the conclusion that she has developed red wee because, well, she simply has. And that there's nothing wrong with her other than she's fat and lazy ! She does however has arthritis, so that's been confirmed as we weren't sure. She has been on daily pain relief for a month so is to come off that on Sunday and see how she is after - any deterioration and we're to take her back to our own vet. We're to do another wee sample in a fortnight (again at own vet) and take it from there but there is no absolutely no blood trace either from a dip, nor blood cells seen under the microscope, in her wee, as he did both of those today. So she's fine! It's been a long day for both humans (my husband came with me - I couldn't have gone all that way on my own, 120 mile round trip) and bunnies, but they're settled back in their shed now. My husband will check on them shortly at bedtime (I can't - I'm bad cop so it will be false results!) and then all being well come morning it will all have been a bad dream for them. So for now, all is well. Providing in 2 weeks the wee sample is unchanged from today, she'll be discharged. It's brilliant news, we're so relieved she didn't need an operation.
Once we'd dropped the girls off at the vet my husband and I had planned to spend the day in York sightseeing, but the traffic was manic and we only got as far as Waitrose, saw it had a cafe so went in there! Had an early lunch (it was about 11.30) and a couple of coffees, before heading back to the vet for an update, but on the way back we popped into a garden centre as it was only about 1pm. We got back to the vet about 2, as he'd said if we hadn't heard by 2 to call, but we called back in instead. He said she'd woken up but wanted to make sure she was eating etc before he let her go home, so booked us back in for 4.20. We then went to another village and had an ice cream and a wander around before going back to the vet car park for 3 where we parked under the dappled shade of a tree, reclined the chairs and shut our eyes. Adrian had a snooze for a bit, I tried but couldn't. We had the radio on as well and it was really nice to just relax to be honest, knowing she was alive and well. We picked her up at 4.20 as planned and got home about 6, the girls had a bounce around the garden and ate some grass before going into the shed for their tea where they munched on some hay first, all a great sign. Coco's on daily pain relief at the moment, but she's to come off that on Sunday (to make sure she's over today's handling i.e. tube down her throat, it must make them a bit sore) and then that's it!
Thank you everyone!
Yes, Omi, I did sleep better last night!
Yes, MM, yesterday was oddly relaxing, particularly once we'd found out Coco had woken up okay, that was quite a relief!
And thank you, Jane, I will pass on your birthday message to my husband right away!
