Please Note - Medical Advice
Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.
You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.
We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.
Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.
Thanks for all your comments. We went back to the second vet yesterday. She agreed to give more Metacam, slightly increased dose. I showed her a video of him eating which I think persuaded her not to tell me to have him put to sleep. He's lost a bit more weight but is continuing to eat well. It's hard to say if he's getting any better, he's certainly not getting worse. He has moments where he's not with it and then all of a sudden he is back and starts eating again. He's loving the grass and treats bring him. I'm just taking each day as it comes.

Hope he continues to eat and feel better. Your experience seems a lot like mine, it took some time before Bella improved but when she did it was suddenly nrapid. Yesterday I managed to catch her doing a massive binky in the garden on my phone. Hope that happens to you and Bandit. Xx
You're courting disaster to allow her in the garden with your phone
LOL! She just took it right outta my hand
Naughty corner for a few hours?
Bandit is now inside, Mavis was bullying him. He still has some appetite. When I think it's time to say goodbye he shows signs of being interested in life. I don't know what to do. He isn't getting any better. It has been suggested we try stemitil and ask for a different antibiotic. I've been helped by the Facebook group.

I took him to see an exotics specialist today in Exeter. She gave him a thorough examination and said apart from the head tilt everything else seems OK. She said his head tilt is severe and having him put to sleep is an option. However, she offered blood test for EC and for general health and some more meds so I went with that option. If it doesn't work at least I'll know I've done everything I can for him and I'll let him go peacefully.
