Alfalfa hay

Sarahbun

Mama Doe
Hello,
I've accidentally ordered alfalfa hay instead of timothy hay (online, should never order when I'm tired).
My buns have not had it before. They're 3 year old males, weighing 2.5 kg and 2.75kg

My understanding is that alfalfa is richer / higher in calories compared to timothy hay.
Should I only be offering it as a treat?

Thanks

Not only more fattening, but importantly it's higher in calcium. So I would only feed as a treat :)

Scroll down here and there's a chart:

Thanks MM,
I think I'll try and return it - it's a big bag 4.5kg, so it's better to swap it for good old Timothy :)
