Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Tiny rabbit droppings

Lunalula

New Kit
Hello! Yesterday i bought a lovely cute little dwarf lop rabbit. When i first brought her home she wasnt eating or drinking which was very concerning but after putting water beside her she started to drink. She didn’t eat for a while after but is now eating hay and pellets. However, my concern is that her droppings are tiny and when i squash them they’re fairly soft. She is happy as anything and is running around the place and eating and drinking normally. She is very small and I’ve had thoughts that perhaps she is not 8 weeks as was advertised. I know GI stasis is a major worry for young rabbits but she is passing poop regularly and is eating and drinking.

Do baby rabbits have smaller poop?
What should i do?

I'm not gunna be super helpful here because I don't really remember them being that much smaller when mine were little - altho my smaller bun does produce smaller droppings than my larger two.. What breed is she? :)

As long as she's passing poops though I wouldn't be too worried :) if they stopped I would be - if you're still concerned you could take her to the vets (with a sample) for them to look at but as long as she's okay in herself, eating, drinking and passing poops I'd let her settle in for a few days and probably wouldn't worry too much xx

How long did she go without eating anything ? The GI tract of a Kit is extremely delicate and if your Kit is actually younger than 8 weeks it could be an additional concern

My first and most important advice would be to take the Kit to a Rabbit Savvy Vet today, unless of course the Kit's input and output is now 100% back to normal. Any signs of s bloated tummy, abnormal poo, anorexia today needs immediate Veterinary attention. Your Kit should be lively, bright eyed and inquisitive. She should have a clean vent/anus and no sign of any nasal or ocular discharge and no sneezing.

Getting her checked over by a Rabbit Savvy Vet will also give you the opportunity to discuss her vaccinations. She will need 2 given 2 weeks apart. The Nobivac Myxo-RHD

Some information about Baby Rabbit's diet :

Finally I would advise you to take a look around the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund's website. There is a vast amount of very useful information and advice there :

Good luck :)

Grace is right :)

She is eating, drinking and pooping and those are very good things!

Baby rabbits can be very susceptible to stress, and this often happens when you transfer them from one environment to another. The small poops you are seeing could be cecotrophs ...

Here's an article that describes the various types of poo and when you should worry:

This link will give you photos to rabbit poop and what it all means!

Have you sorted out a good vet that you'd like to look after your lovely little baby? It would be good to get one on board, as she will need vaccinations and eventually spaying:

Welcome to the forum, and good luck

Thank you all so much for the help. I was really worried! I took her to the vets and everything is fine. She just has tiny droppings!
