Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Millie on route to vets

Thank you everyone so much . I'm sorry I can't reply individually but I appreciate it so much. As you are aware I do get in a flap about my animals and I don't think straight xx

I seldom think straight full stop !!

Still sending get well Millie vibes xx

She's a year and a half now and never has any problems with her tummy before. I have infacol at home and metacam but didn't want to attempt massages incase it was some sort of blockage. They want to know now weather to take more bloods and full body x rays to see if some sort of other problem caused the stasis. Or when she poops she will just go him with the usual tummy meds. I'm not sure what to do? I don't want her to have GA if it was gas? Xx

I have it on very good authority - Frances Harcourt Brown - that giving Infacol in a suspected case of blockage is absolutely fine and in fact can avert a disaster :)

Very wise not to do tummy massages, this is something FHB has always strongly advised against. I doubt a blood glucose reading of over twenty was stress induced, I have had lots of stressy bunnies in stasis and have not experienced blood glucose so high without x-ray confirming a gut issue. I agree with j&b that it could have been a blockage at the time the blood glucose was so high but thankfully moved on its own accord.

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. No updates yet. Going to miss them tonight - Tobys gone with her. Usually at meal times I get mega binkys and zooms, and she was just slippered under the chair. Then when I came back with the carrier she looked like she was struggling to wee or poo in their litter box. Tail right up and deep heaviy squeezes. They say no bladder sludge, obstruction or visable amount of gas. I just hope she will be ok :(

We searched through the hay box and there was the odd poop with fur inside but nothing alarming. I had a look to see if their was anything chewed in the room - I take photos of things that have had a nibble so that I can monitor if it was just a little nibble or if they are eating it. ( ocd I know I'm weird) and nothing? They had the same forage mix I make every night. Nothings moved in her room or no loud noises last night. It is a mystery.

This is a pic of how Millie usually greets me!

The trouble is when things like this happen it makes my anxiety worse as it confirms in my head that I am right to be anxious all the time - if that makes sense .

It makes sense to me. But of course none of us can prevent every possible illness that may effect a Rabbit. We always feel responsible though. Hopefully you will receive another update from the Vet this evening xx

Hugs Loobers xxx

You can PM me anytime, and I can give you my number. You don't need to be anxious, as most of the time these things work out OK.

I had *yet another* visit to the vet today! It can be incredibly stressful, especially when the specialist is over an hour away and I am going at least twice weekly. But keeping calm can happen.

Lots and lots of hugs your way, and vibes for the beautiful Millie

I'm glad the conscious xray showed nothing sinister. What a gorgeous wee bub Millie is! I adore harlequin/magpie lops! :D

More vibes on the way for bunny poos, happier tummies and hugs for you too. I'm well acquainted with both ocd and anxiety especially regarding my furbabies. You did well taking those quick steps to help her. I hope your bunnies will both be home soon. xxxxxxx

Thank you everyone so much. ..xx The vet called...she was doing binkys around the run for dinner and has pooped. Being the anxious person I am, I am not convinced they are not Tobys poops. Lol! Keep you all posted. Thank you all my friends at RU xxx

YAY!! :D:wave:

I'm really pleased to hear Millie is doing so much better [emoji3] I agree with everyone that your quick action will have made all the difference.

I've found that when my bunnies have started to recover from a stasis episode the poos tend to be smaller than normal at first which makes it easier to differentiate their poos from their friend's.

Hopefully Millie has done well overnight and she will be able to return home today :D

I hope Millie has continued to improve overnight.

My little Nethie Will is prone to GI Stasis. He's had 2 vet stays but on both occasions it has been down to ingested fur ( his partner Nancy is twice his size and seldom reciprocates with the grooming).

I now have Metacam and emeprid at home and at very first sign give him meds and syringe water - never massage or force feed. If he's not perked up within 2 hours I would be straight to the vets.

On the couple of times he's been medicated at home he's always perked up within 30 mins and I never know whether I h ave given meds unnecessarily.

Vibes for your girl.
