Ok so sorry for the long message and if this isn't the right place please delete / move
My rabbit amber stopped eating Monday, we spoke to an emergency vet and got her seen first thing Tuesday.
I took amber in today for a dental as the vet told us on Tuesday that this was her problem and that's why she had stopped eating, the vet rang me this afternoon and said she didn't actually need the dental as her teeth are fine it was just a very very minor file so there wouldn't be a charge. ( so she's had a general anaesthetic that she didn't need)
He then went on to say her teeth mustn't of been the reason for her to stop eating so it could be a urinary tract infection or bladder crystal as they had seen some blood in her urine today and she has increased urination ( which she doesn't it's just cos she wee'd while we were in the vets room on tues and as for the blood I've had her inside since Monday dinner time with a white sheet covering the floor and haven't seen a single speck of blood and could it not be blood but just the red colour as she has had broccoli and carrots to get her eating again) he said we had a couple of options they could give her some treatment (antibiotics) and see how she goes or refer her to a more specialist vets.
I said well she's back to normal eating drinking weeing pooing now so the vet said ok let's do the antibiotics then, which I agreed to (but I don't think personally think she needs.)
I was in work so had to get my mum to collect her.
When my mum picked her up (they have charged her for the anaesthetic even though we was told no charge ) and not given her any antibiotics just pain relief and a stomach medicine to get her eating again but she's already back to eating fine.
they also told my mum, when she picked her up that they were just giving her some fluids but then in the next breath said that she had eaten all the food we had took for her, so surely she wouldn't of needed fluids.
I'm going to go back to the vets tomorrow before I go to work to speak to them about it all as I'm not happy with it, but thought I would see what people's opinions on it are.
Would you give the stomach meds if she's 100% back to normal?
Would you be happy to give the antibiotics if they offer us them tomorrow?
