Chasing

Young Bun
Hi, were both getting stressed as the chasing is continuing after 3 weeks of living together. Nearly every night now at 2am 4am 6am (sometimes in the evening too like tonight at 10pm) our new rabbit Bounty (male) just over a year old chases Flake (female) 6 years old. The chasing can last anywhere between a couple of minutes to 20mins. Sometimes some of flakes fur is pulled out but alot of the time not. Also after the chasing sometimes they lay down next to each other straight away and sometimes opposite ends of the room. Not sure what to do, are they just playing? Or is it dominant thing? We haven't got involved when they are chasing, even though we want to stop them, we have just let them as don't want to make it worse and we're not always home to separate them. We have a camera in the room and that's how we have been watching them. I will try and get a clip of the video to show what happends posted over the weekend. Thanks

Are they both neutered stevey?

Play behaviour can look stressful to us, when it's chasing.

Bounty has lots of energy, whereas Flake just wants to take it easy. It should settle down when Bounty gets older!
Not much consolation, I know :)

Yes both neutered, we both just worry for Flake after being with Buttons untill he passed away (8 years old), he was the most chilled out bunny and they got on straight away (no chasing or anything), no bonding required lol just put them together and that was it, she followed him around everywhere. We just want her to be happy and not be getting stressed by the new bunny

Sometimes when one rabbit detects a weakness in the other rabbit, they will bully them. Maybe this is what is happening, we don't know for sure. It's just a suggestion. How long have they been together?

I love your rabbits' names, stevey :)

A rabbit can usually stand their ground and retaliate when pushed. Some rabbits wind up other rabbits in order that they get the 'chase'.

When she's been chased, does she pant breathlessly, or look frightened when it stops?
