  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

After spay, no poops?

Not eaten anything herself, or drank she's kinda accepting them I've been adding loads of water to it more than normal so she's getting fluids gunna give her loxicom now too x

This may be why there aren't many faeces. Adding more water to it means she'll need to have a larger amount to gain the fibers to produce faeces.

A check up is still worth it this AM just incase something else is going on. She may just need a little boost to get her eating by herself with the gut meds.

I'm annoyed the vet allowed her to go home if she wasn't nibbling on food and producing a few pellets. Even at our nonsavvy practice we would keep them until they were nibbling and passing faeces - even if it meant transferring them overnight.

They weren't all wet at first just as I realised she wasn't drinking anything overnight either :( yea it's not great tbh definitely calling at 9 - she starts crying everytime I have to touch her and hides under things :( feel so awful hopefully painkiller helps if there's any pain.

They did this with my boy too he wasn't eating anything and they let him come home had issues with him eating butttttt he started pooping a few hours after he got home x

Did she have Ketamine as part of her GA ?

I hope you get on OK at the vet Grace. The crying is sometimes a sign of annoyance and possibly pain.

Some vets do let them home asap, because they feel they will recover and eat better in a home environment.

I think you're doing well - more vibes being sent xx

How is she doing?
The boys have a slightly less invasive & disruptive surgery than the females.

Okay so there are more poos!! And she's eaten one piece of hay [emoji23] going for the small victories here. Rang vets got an appointment this morning, unfortunately not with William but apparently the other vet I'm seeing is an exotic specialist so hopefully it'll be okay. Even though there's more poops I just want her looked at to be honest and some Emeprid for my own sanity - she's not crying as much though and seems more calm. We are both very sleepy haha xx

Glad there are more being passed now. The pain relief is obviously doing its trick now x

Let us know how she gets on but I think you're not going in the right direction.

Thanks everyone for all your support :) just got back from vets she's given her a painkiller injection as she thinks she's in pain, also given me Emeprid and tramadol for her to have. She took her blood glucose level (I think I've got that right) and it's a bit high which she said could mean there's a blockage - she said we'll see if she starts producing more poops and if not xray later today. I'm going to continue to syringe feed her and hope for the best :) xx

Please note that tramadol may make her sleepy & not want to eat xx

I'm glad she's had her check up as you appear a little happier having a plan.

Lots of vibes coming her way now x

Thank you :) she's eaten a few pieces of hay which is a good start and there's a couple of poos now since she's had the Emeprid xx

Fresh grass is their favourite after a spay if it's possible for you to pick some. Hope she continues to recover today. xx
