Wise Old Thumper
Next door (car repair place) was getting rid of a dog crate so they offered it to us for free It's not got a base (just mesh) and is not collapsible, but fine for us. We'd like to use it as (yet) another area for the buns to have access to 24/7 with the option to have it as a different space on the lawn when they're on there. We'd like to add some levels but as the whole thing would be open to the elements, I'd prefer to not use wood (wood tends to get covered in algae in our garden because it's so damp over winter). I was wondering about the C&C/NIC/mesh cubes: any idea how they'd fare outdoors? Specifically the not-mesh solid panels, which I think are plastic but I dunno whether they need to be put on to a mesh base or how they come.
We also need to work out how to attach it semi-permanently to the hutch: there's a 'spare' door which we use to stroke the buns through or feed them, we always tell them it's 'not an exit' but maybe it will be now! Maybe the cubes could provide a tunnel-y thing to there, as the doors are very different sizes. We have the ramp from the hutch that they no longer use as well (it fell off when I upended the hutch in storage: Aboleth's never even seen it!) so could repurpose that if necessary.
I'll try and get a picture at some point: it was too dark by the time we got back yesterday and I didn't have time when we fetched it. It's about three and a half foot square in area so a little smaller than their house, and maybe 3.5' tall.
Any suggestions appreciated
