  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Snuffles and walking dandruff :(

Dillon and Cuthbert have been to the vets today - good news they are fit enough for their vaccinations bad news we still have snuffles and Dillon with walking dandruff - we are due back at the vets again tomorrow to see a more knowledgeable vet hopefully soon I will get the poor boys back to health.
They are nearly toilet trained, having a wonderful time with toys, input and output good and almost bonded - so pleased with how far they have come. Now how do I post photos please?

Welcome - good luck :thumb:

I am glad you're seeing a specialist. There are various ways of tackling snuffles .. I have been talking with someone about this recently!

Let me know how you get on at the vet tomorrow, and good luck :)

Back from the vets, treatment given for parasites (walking dandruff) as they "might" have a very mild case.

Snuffles = they do NOT have snuffles it is urine scald staining around their mouths and noses as they have washed their feet. The urine scald is under control (ie they are rehomed to me) but the scald will take two months for the colour to disappear.

I am so relieved - Dillon's body condition is still poor but he is okay, Cuthbert is in much better condition. Very glad that I could get in so quickly to see the specialist.

Thank you for your report CD :)

Good to hear - I expect they have been given Ivermectin for the fur mites?

I am glad their urine scald is under control now. They will be feeling so much better now that they are with you x
