Anyone interested in a bunny rescue team effort?

Thank you both :D I'm so happy we (as a rabbit community) can make a difference to even a small number of the animal we all love :)

I should add, for those than aren't aware, that these buns have travelled almost 120 miles  to get here and as you can imagine there was a lot involved to make this happen!

Thanks everyone for the support x

And these are rabbits that would never have been picked up by a Rescue Centre, so who knows where they would be if ThreeB's hadn't taken the initiative.

My latest rescue bun was a 200 mile round trip .. worth every mile :)

We had a lovely trip, and van driving (it was only a Berlingo, so small!) wasn't as bad as I expected but ThreeBs lives in a lovely area and we saw lots of red kites really close up  In total, I think the buns went 122 miles (plus a detour into some services so we could get lunch) in carriers :) They travelled very well :)

I need to go for a shower now and get ready to go to wargames, but I managed to get the photos onto the internet so I should just need to pop the links in. I'll also update on the behaviours we witnessed :)

Thanks everyone :) (Thanks for the P.M too KK, really interesting and useful information, I have to clear my inbox a bit when I have more time) x

PICTURES part one of two! I've also included observation information from watching them and when DemiS came over to help with assessment, nail clipping etc. Thanks also to DemiS for the crate and Hugo's litter tray and bowl :D ThreeBs has already received this info :thumb:

Firstly, Snow White. Despite having had a number of litters, she was the brightest, most energetic and generally most all-kinds-of-rabbit-y of the lot. She's curious, outgoing, likes digging, eating (everything we gave her), jumping on things, chinning, some mild chewing, periscoping, throwing, generally redecorating...! She was a beautifully clean bun when she arrived but not litter trained so that soon changed  She is the whitest grey rabbit I've ever seen: the very front bottoms of her ears are grey, and the tips of her face hairs. She has brown eyes. Not really into headrubs while in the dog crate.

It was unfortunate that she had to have the smallest space, but it was the most secure and, as she was the only girl, it made sense to keep her as separate as possible. It was also the noisiest space (the crate floor is a little warped) although she didn't keep us awake or anything :)

Next up is Hugo, who's basically a big cuddly teddy bear  He has a MASSIVE head, even the OH commented on it  He likes to sleep during the day, and mooch about towards evening. He also hums to himself as he hops around  He is inquisitive when not asleep :) He enjoyed hopping around, did a few bunny-500s (well, he was going average bunny jogging pace ). He did have a massive under-tail mat but it was clean: he's probably too fat to clean himself! He also had a bit of scurf/dandruff/dry skin and his nails looked to have been previously very overgrown and some still were a bit. He has the fluffiest feet I'd ever seen in real life: his fur is generally really long. He liked to throw things like sticks about :) He enjoyed the forage we gave him but wasn't as all-over-it as Snow. He chewed a hole in the middle of a puppy pad so has some artistic leaving :D

In the above picture you can see both boys' pens were adjacent with no visibility or biting barrier. But Ronaldo showed a lot of interest in Hugo: this might have been innocent grooming attempts but we didn't want to take the chance so we slid some hardboard between the two: here's some pics of the two together:

I was also a bit worried Ronaldo would get his head stuck  The puppy pens we've got don't have uniform bar spacing (they're cheap like that: well-made, but bar spacing isn't always uniform). Anyway, Ronaldo, or Ronnie, is supposed to be Hugo and Snow's son: now I don't really know about rabbit genes but unless the Nethie gene is REALLY recessive, I don't think that's possible? The only thing he has in common with either of them is he's the same pattern as Hugo. But OMG is he not the little starlet! He was curious but shy, and would hop into his carrier when someone walked past the bedroom door or went in, but didn't manic-dash in there, more precautionary. He would usually come out after a bit to see if anything was on offer  He had little tufty bits on his head that were a bit weird, like he'd smeared mucus on himself  And he was drooling a bit when I got him home the first time, although that wasn't apparent when we dropped him off at ThreeBs'. He liked to explore, and wasn't a big eater (as Matt said, he is only tiny! Matt's never seen a Nethie in the flesh before :D), but overnight had eaten everything we gave him. He was often picking up bits of hay as he explored and eating them on the go though :) He is a beautiful colour.

Ronnie got the tube because, being a Nethie, I thought he might like more hiding places :) And there was more 'space' for it because he was tiny! :thumb:

They were in the house for almost 24hrs. They were fantastic houseguests and, as DemiS said, absolutely lovely. Perfect lap-bunnies! So easily manipulated for nail trims, bum checks, the lot :D They weren't litter trained but we were prepared for that and only the crate got dirty really, our floors were otherwise OK :)

Best of luck with them, ThreeBs!

They are all absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see more updates. I'm also making a prediction....

Snow White is going to be a total brat once she gets her feet under the table. She's got that stroppy, white girl look about her    She looks a lot like my Bea!

They're all so beautiful!

(P.s. I wish I could steal Hugo )

Thank you KK and DemiS :D

That must have been hard work, albeit for a short time!

I have also had the lovely bonus of getting to know KK and 3B's a little better. Both absolute stars

3B's Inbox is full at the moment. I have contacted her privately to alert her, but if anyone needs messages passing on in the meantime, just let me know.

Ah they are all so cute. Looks like they made themselves at home too even though it was for a day. Thanks for putting the photos up :)

Hi everyone :)

KK, that's awesome what you've put on the thread. I've had so little time so far, with work, that I haven't had a chance to sort any photos. But I'm off for 5 days now :)

I'll get on and deal with my inbox in a sec, I've got a thing about keeping messages, although I'll probably never read most of them again:lol:

So, the buns are awesome and I'm a little bit in love. I don't know if it's ok to have favourites, but 'Hugo' is amazing, he's so big and cuddly and chilled out :). 'Snow white' is beautiful, and friendly, but less easy to handle, she wriggles about a lot and generally a bit less sure, but it's very early days. 'Ronnie' is feisty :), I've never had a Nethie before, so wasn't sure what to expect. He's lovely, but at the moment very unsure of us and tends to run away if he sees me coming.

All are eating well and enjoying the gentle introduction of some Science Selective (they are going for that first). Like KK said whilst the others go straight for food, 'Ronnie' doesn't, but he does eat it overnight. Btw, I'd be surprised too if he was their son!.

We've been busy rearranging things and have managed to source a large run which will divide the shed between them and allow us to take out the old hutch (No more bunny prison). We are collecting it tomorrow (meaning another van hire). Obviously, eventually (after neutering / bonding) they will have the whole shed and we can use the run externally. Unfortunately things can't happen overnight, so it's going to be a step by step process. Starting with first vet visit this week.

Just to add, Blossom (who used to live in the shed) is happily moved in to her new, very spacious, playhouse. It's old, really old and needs some tlc, but it's perfect :) I'll try to get a photo up soon.

I can't quite believe we now have 12 rabbits  and I'm looking at my garden going :shock: but it's fun and very rewarding. It took me 1 hour 15 mins last night to get around everyone :) x

Oh I forgot to say we have been thinking of names.

My dd and I were joking that 'Ronnie' is evil (joking of course, he's lovely). It's just that when you try to stroke him he sometimes jumps towards you as if he's saying back off! Anyway, so after some Googling we came up with Loki and a theme was born.

So, 'Hugo' is going to be Thor  We struggled to come up with a female Marvel character, but think we have decided on Skye, as in 'Quake' from Marvel Agents of Shield :).

So we have Loki, Thor and Skye. New names, new fresh start :D x

Lovely names :D It sounds like they are tiny rabbits with big personalities :D They have also of course all still got their hormones intact

Aren't they just beautiful!
