  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My poor Noah bear - U/D 11th Nov

Well if it is, the implant won’t work. Like I said we are trying to rule everything else out. If it is genuine incontinence then it will be worth trying. If it isn’t, well at least we have tried and I will have to figure out how to cope with the housing challenges.

I go to one of the leading rabbit specialist vets in the country and trust what he says implicitly.

I wasn't doubting that. I am just saying I dont understand ! Sorry you seem to have taken offence

You can't do anything more than that :thumb:

I'm not surprised, actually, if the comments made have upset Catherine. She is doing her very best for Noah and I would think is extremely stressed.
I don't want to turn this into an argument, and perhaps shouldn't have butted in, but I can only imagine how I would feel in Catherine's position.
Enough said.

All I can assume is that my post has been misconstrued. The last thing I intended doing was to cause any upset

In view of this I will bow out of the thread now.

Catherine, I wish Noah well x

I hope you find out the cause and how to cope - incontinence isn't easy...Our elderly labrador has incontinence, she has a few health issues and possible degenerative myelopathy.

I'm not actually sure what offensive comments were said? She asked for advice and it wasn't clear what the hormone implant was for if arthritis was the cause. I wasn't sure myself until she clarified that it's to rule everything else out, so I don't think it was wrong to question. Better than everyone being confused and unable to offer any advice. People can be so touchy about their vets and interpret completely unrelated responses as insults jabbed at the vet. Wish I had a vet that I felt that loyal towards!

I apologise, Jane. I should not have quoted your post but made a new one of my own explaining how I felt.

I know very well that you wouldn't deliberately set out to hurt. Indeed we look to you and appreciate your advice.

I know Catherine and how hard she works on behalf of all her rabbits, and know the expert vet in question, so was very sensitive to some of the comments being made.

Again, I'm sorry, and hope we can put this behind us. x

Hi Catherine

I was thinking about you and Noah, and wondered whether you'd managed to get any further forward?
